Rita Baker
April 4, 1957 - June 3, 2011

As a member of Altrusa, an international service organization, Rita was recently elected President of the Sherman Chapter.  Rita went home to be with her Lord and Savior very suddenly on Friday, June 3rd after falling ill on a vacation trip to New Orleans with her husband Erik and Aunt Carol.

Rita was born and lived her formative years in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, attending Grace Temple Baptist Church where she came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.

She graduated from Adamson High School in 1975.  Her business career included graduating from the SMU Paralegal program and rising through the ranks of the DAPA to eventually lead the organization.

For the past 7 years she lived in Sherman, Texas, with her husband Erik.  Rita first worked for the Sanders, O'Hanlon & Motley law firm, and most recently for the Homestead of Denison.  She often helped out her beloved Aunt Carol at Carol's Red Apron restaurant in Sherman.

Rita is survived by her husband Erik Baker, her son Patrick Allen and his wife Melissa, three precious grandchildren, Audrey, Benjamin and Riley Allen, her grandmother Jessie Braswell (Nanny), her grandmother-in-law Mary Johnson (Honey), her parents Maurice and Peggy davis, her mother-in-law Jenny May, her sister Gwen Evans and husband Carlton, her sister Beverly Adams and husband Bruce, her sister janet Graham, her sister-in-law Leigh Ann Onwu, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
